Palmrest

Palmrest is a mirror, not a blocker. You choose the apps you open without thinking; the next time your thumb goes there, Palmrest steps in for a few seconds. Tap, breathe, tap again. If you still want the app, it opens. Every time you do, it asks one question: why now?

The pause never appears.

Palmrest needs Apple's Screen Time permission. If you declined it during setup, open Palmrest and tap Ask again; iOS shows the prompt once more. The permission is not listed under Settings › Palmrest — after you grant it, the app appears under Settings › Screen Time.

I tapped "I'll open it" and nothing happened.

The first tap starts the pause. Wait the length you chose (5, 10 or 20 seconds), then tap again. A tap that comes too early does nothing on purpose.

The app opened, then the pause came back after a few minutes.

That is the design. Answering "why now?" lifts the pause for a few minutes ("Actually needed" gives you longer; you can change that window in Settings). Afterwards the pause returns.

Can Palmrest see which apps I chose, or what I do in them?

No. Apple's Screen Time framework gives Palmrest only opaque tokens, and they never leave your phone. There is no account and no server. See the privacy policy.

How do I choose different apps?

Settings › Your apps opens Apple's picker again. The free version pauses one app; Palmrest Plus removes that limit.

How do I cancel Palmrest Plus?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple: iPhone Settings › your name › Subscriptions › Palmrest. Cancelling keeps Plus until the end of the paid period. To bring Plus back on a new phone, use Restore purchase in Settings.

How do I delete my data?

Settings › Reset all data removes every count and your app selection. Deleting the app does the same.

Requirements

iPhone with iOS 17 or later. Screen Time features are provided by Apple and work only on a real device.
